Human mentality is always to get the best out of their money. If you travel via train or plane, you always want a best available seat. You need windows seat with more legroom, not too close to the lavatory, not next to the emergency exit and not in the middle aisle.
So how do you manage to get such a "Dream" seat? Most of us basically talk to the person who does our luggage check-ins. But by the time you do that, all the good seats would be filled. Normally you can go to your airline's website and reserve a seat based on the availablity but they don't give you enough information about the seats.

I found pretty interesting website which has won lot of awards over the years and gives you really detailed and useful information about the airplane seats and in-flight amenities. The site is called SeatGuru.com. The site is owned by TripAdvisor and has been running for almost 6-7 years but I didn't know until last year when I stumbled upon it.
SeatGuru lists detailed map of the seating arrangements for all the international airlines and for different types of airplanes. US Airways Seating arrangements, Delta Airplane's seating map etc. The seating map is color coded with the Good/Bad factors as well as legroom information for the seats near emergency exists.
I was amazed how they have kept it upto date with the quality information that you would find difficult to get somewhere else. Next time when you fly, check out SeatGuru.com for your seat preferences.
