Government of India is now giving some importance to rural areas of India. Indian Government has launched a new portal for India Development Gateway which would cater information related to rural livelihoods, including agriculture, primary education, health, rural energy and e-governance.
The portal called Indg.in has content in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, and Bengali, besides English. The portal has been developed by the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC, the institute I was proud to be a part of).
Speaking on the occasion, the President said that the portal would link Panchayats and open a window of opportunity for rural development. But the question is, would this portal solve any rural issues?
