If you are using BPL Mobile service in India, you should read further to learn this trick on how you can actually receive email alert, notifications on your BPL mobile for free. You don't need any GPRS service or data plan. The moment you get an email you can get an alert on your mobile phone.
SO how you can do that?
If you are using Gmail:
Login to your Gmail account. Go to “Setting” in top right corner. Then go to “Forwarding and POP/IMAP” then select “Forward a copy of incoming mail to” and put in your bplmobile email address….
that is 98xxxxxxxx@bplmobile.com (replace xs with your BPL mobile number). Now Save changes and enjoy!
Try sending an email to your gmail account through some other account, not through the same gmail account, and you will get an sms with brief details of the email.
If you are using Hotmail:
Login to your Hotmail account, if you are seeing the new Windows Live mail, on the right corner, click on Options->More Options and select "Forward mail to another e-mail account.
Enter your 98xxxxxxxx@bplmobile.com. (Make sure you check the box which says "keep a copy.."). Now every email you get, a copy will be forwarded to your mobile phone as an SMS.
You can also use this 98xxxxxxxx@bplmobile.com email address to send free SMS from the internet.
