Mobile industry has been continously exploring new ways to generate revenue beyond its telephony business. In the coming years, one could watch breaking news over their mobile handsets. It doesn't seem far from reality. Five of the world's largest mobile phone makers are already collaborating on specifications to deliver broadcast services to wireless handsets.

BSNL has started a new trend in India. BSNL along with Apalya Technologies Pvt. launched an end to end mobile video solution for providing world class TV through GSM mobile handsets called MiMobi.tv for BSNL EDGE/GPRS customers. The service is launched in Andhra Pradesh and looks like it would roll out to other states soon.

Two days back I wrote that {ln:Get Free Dialup For 2 Months From BSNL 'BSNL} is offering 2 months of free dialup internet to its existing BSNL landline customers. According to the BSNL news, it didn't explain how to actually get that free dialup internet.

So How to get free BSNL Dialup internet?

Looks like BSNL is heating up its broadband fight with Tata & Airtel. BSNL has just reduced monthly fixed charges for the unlimited broadband plans for the period Nov 15th 2008 to Feb 15 2009 for new broadband applicants & existing Broadband customers of the Home UL 750, Home UL 750 Plus, Business UL 3300 Plan and Business UL 3300 Plus Plan. Looks like this is a promotional offer but depending on the response it might be extended further.

Airtel has introduced a new terrif plan for prepaid subscribers for outgoing calls. The charges will be Rs. 1/min for LIFE. The plan coming under 'Super Lifetime Prepaid' offers an Airtel user local outgoing tariff of Re 1 for life. Under this plan, the customer can stay mobile by paying just Rs 999 and they have to use a minimum of Rs 200 every 180 days to continue enjoying lifetime validity benefits.

From Saturday, Super Lifetime Prepaid is available to all existing as well as new Airtel mobile users. All existing Rs-999 Lifetime and Easy Lifetime customers get this offer free-of-charge.(via: {ln:nw:http://www.rediff.com/money/2007/nov/02call.htm 'Rediff}
